Evangelism: The foundational key to every woman’s life is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We start every Bible study group with an evangelical message. Discipleship: Once a woman is born-again she begins a journey of learning and growing. We believe that teaching the women how to study and know the Scriptures equips, strengthens and protects them spiritually. We give preeminence to the teaching of God’s Word because it is alive and able to transform their hearts and minds. Discipleship is caught more than it is taught. We believe the teachers must first and foremost be living examples for the ladies to follow. Children’s Ministry: Children are very important to African families. Children are the future leaders of the nation, so investing in them means ensuring a successful tomorrow. Women don’t generally practice family planning, so having three or more children is very common. We believe that providing children’s ministry during our discipleship training is an opportunity and a necessity. We have developed a children’s ministry program that teaches through the Bible using visual aids, dramas, and music. Self-Reliance: African women are called on to fulfill the model in Proverbs 31; wife, mother, homemaker, small businesswoman, and teacher. Their culture trains them how to cook, clean, and be mothers, but in their changing society they are ill equipped for income generation. Capacity Building: African women are generally not given the chance to complete elementary school; the female literacy rate is appallingly low. We believe that literacy training is essential. Women need to be able to read to study the Bible for themselves. They also need literacy skills to succeed in micro-enterprises and to be effective in serving their families, communities, and churches. |
